  • CONTROLS AND EMBEDDED ENGINEER

    Sopogy has immediate need for an individual with a strong, varied background in electronics and controls to support many facets of the organization, including product development, project design and site implementation. Knowledge of PLC controls and microcontroller development in C strongly desired. EE or equivalent work experience preferred. International travel may be required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     Product Development
    ° Design, prototype, and manufacture custom electronics to support solar thermal collector fields
    ° Maintain existing solar tracking system
    · Microcontroller programming, QA and testing
    · Repair and rework failed components
    · Provide customer support via phone and email
    · On-site repair and upgrade support as required
    ° Research and develop next-generation solar tracking system
    · Focus on Cost Reduction, Reliability, and Scalability
    · PLC integration and programming as needed
    · Create and document support and maintenance procedures
    ° Order, receive and inventory hardware
    · Implement product lifecycle
    · Work with mechanical group to optimize parts assemblies
    · Refine implementation based on field experience

    • Project Design Support
    ° Create electrical drawings, plans and documentation to support solar thermal projects
    ° Provide electrical requirements to planners and customers
    ° High-voltage (power) and low-voltage (control and communication) electrical design experience a plus.

    • Control Systems Support
    ° Provide design guidance for plant automation components
    ° Specify requirements for control system hardware and software
    ° Provide programming support to integrate solar tracking into control systems as required

    • Travel as required to customer sites (domestic and international) for implementation and support.

    • Other duties as assigned


     

  • MID-LEVEL PROJECT MANAGER

    SUMMARY:
    Manage all phases of project activities including engineering, procurement, construction and
    operations. Direct preparation of plans and schedules, supervises project personnel, and manage
    project scope, budget and deliverables.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Responsible for all phases of planning and execution of multiple projects ($100,000 to
    $500,000).
    • Plan, organize, coordinate, and control project activities to successfully accomplish
    project scope and objectives.
    • Supervise project personnel.
    • Maintain open communications with management, team members, and clients on project
    status, schedule, and issues.
    • Support business development activities.
    • Assist in proposal efforts to define project scope, boundaries, and technical requirements.
    • Represent the company to client and maintain excellent client relationship.
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:
    BS, engineering-related degree.
     
    Experience:
    At least 8 - 12 years experience with progressively increased responsibility managing
    engineering construction projects.
     
    Travel:
    This position is based in the Sopogy San Jose, California office and will entail occasional
    domestic and international travel. Valid passport is required.
     
    Other Requirements:
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Proficient in AutoCAD.
    Proficient in Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Project (or equivalent)
